INGLEWOOD –  ‘CONFERENCING PERFECTION’, SAYS BUSINESS PSYCHOLOGIST

When Fiona Creed, General Manager of the Wirral's luxury Inglewood Manor Hotel, called in the regions top business psychologist for an independent opinion on improving the establishment's conference facilities, she was not prepared for the response.

For the report submitted by Anita Morris, Managing Director of Widnes based Holden Morris Consulting and organiser of countless blue-chip conferences and seminars contained just one word: “Nothing!”

 News Inglewood Manor

The business psychologist, coach and visiting lecturer at Liverpool’s John Moore’s University said that Fiona was unlikely to be able to improve the ‘perfect’ tranquillity and idyllic location amid 38 acres of rolling Cheshire countryside.

“I was stunned as my car entered the beautiful tree-lined driveway that takes visitors to the splendid Edwardian house that makes up Inglewood Manor,” said Anita yesterday after her inspection of the venue. “For me space is essential to holding a successful conference because it enables delegates to go away and think about what has been discussed.

“And Inglewood has acres of space for delegates to get lost in. My initial reaction was that it was perfect. Then I went into the 30 bedroom hotel building itself and I was not at all disappointed with what I found.

“The building is full of character with nooks and crannies for private out of conference discussions or confidential conversations. But it is also a warm and homely place where delegates can unwind and relax amid real home comforts.

“For me Inglewood Manor gets ten out of ten and I told Fiona that. In fact I’m now looking at bringing some of my own events to Inglewood in the future.”

A delighted Fiona Creed said: “We asked Anita to come and look at Inglewood’s facilities because, although we are busy with conference bookings, we know that we cannot become complacent. We need to be aware of the requirements of conference organisers so we can deliver a first class venue with first class service.

“Anita attends prestigious conferences around the world, advises companies large and small on a variety of business matters and is a psychologist who understands the requirements of businesses and the people who work within them.

“I felt her opinion would be useful.  However, her report on Inglewood is truly gratifying and I can’t thank her enough for her input.”

INGLEWOOD MANOR LAUNCHES STUNNING NEW RESTAURANT

More than ninety guests from across the region attended a swish champagne reception to mark the official opening of the new £70,000 Dining Room restaurant at the Wirral’s luxury Inglewood Manor Hotel.

Restaurant Cheshire

General Manager Fiona Creed welcomed  guests to the stunning Edwardian hotel at Ledsham, Cheshire last week (Thurs Feb 26)and showed them around the new restaurant where they enjoyed cocktails and canapés in the re-designed and totally refurbished restaurant.

However, one VIP guest who attended had no need for a guided tour. For designer Rachel Hunt of Panache Interiors was the professional who had taken the new design concept from the drawing board to reality.

Fiona Creed welcomed guests and told them that the re-design of the restaurant was just one of a number of improvements planned for the hotel which will host more than 100 weddings on its rolling 38 acre site in the next year alone.

However, she said new head chef Steve Hartley was particularly delighted with the smart new restaurant area which would give him a stage on which to unveil panoply of new culinary delights.

“The hotel has had a very busy start to the year and we are grateful for the support of our loyal guests,” added Fiona. “We are looking forward to a busy 2009.”

HIGH FLYERS FLOCK TO INGLEWOOD MANOR

Fiona Creed, General Manager of the Wirral’s luxury Inglewood Manor Hotel has been officially ‘dubbed’ a high-flyer by her former college in a scheme aimed at recognising the success of ex- students and inspiring new students to follow in their footsteps.

And when she met with Wirral Metropolitan College marketing manager Sue Baker and Wirral Tourism Awards student of the year Kelly Aspinall in the grand reception area of the Edwardian hotel at Ledsham she had ample proof that the scheme was working.

For 36 years old mum of one Kelly, who is studying for an HNC in hotel catering, has just started a nine months long work experience programme at the 30 bedroom hotel.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to learn at such a prestigious hotel,” said Kelly who lives in Prenton. “It is good to know Fiona started at Wirral Metropolitan College like me because her success is truly inspirational.”

Sue, the college’s marketing guru added: “We’ve been working hard to locate former students who have achieved the type of success that Fiona has because we want to demonstrate that it really is possible to reach the very top.

“People move far and wide and sometimes it can take a great deal of research to track them down. That’s why I am grateful that Fiona has agreed to take part in the scheme. She’s a perfect example of a highly successful former student.”

Fiona, who studied for her HND in hotel catering and institutional management at Wirral Met before enjoying wide experience in other hotels in the region said:  “We are more than happy to get involved in a scheme that will eventually supply well-educated and high quality young candidates to the hotel industry.

“There is no better way of appreciating an industry than through some hands-on experience and Kelly will have ample opportunity to try her hand at a wide variety of hotel activities while she is with us.”

So is Kelly, who juggles her studies with caring for her seven month old daughter Amilia, looking forward to a future career in hotel management?

“Not exactly,” she said. “My plan is to achieve my qualification and then get enough experience that will enable me to teach those skills to others. But that will also involve some teacher training.”

NEW HEAD CHEF AT LUXURY CHESHIRE HOTEL

NEW head chef at the Wirral’s luxury Inglewood Manor Hotel, Steve Hartley, is about to set off on a fine food safari – scouring the peninsula and the fertile farms of Cheshire for the first class produce to ensure his restaurant remains one of the county’s best.

For Steve, who has held the post of executive chef at Chester’s Bank of America and at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool is determined to bring back the twin-traits of simplicity and honesty to fine dining and to let the flavours on the plate speak for themselves.

“I’ve already started organising tastings so we identify the very best of local produce,” said Steve during a break from his busy kitchen. “We are currently reviewing our breakfast menu and we have got a sausage tasting coming up soon.

“My philosophy is that the produce must be first class if the dish we create with it is to be first class. So in the coming weeks I will be scouring the region for the finest produce and I’m confident I’ll find it because the fertile fields of the Wirral and Cheshire produce some of the finest foods in the world.”

Steve, who lives at Great Sutton with his wife and three years old son, knows the region very well. But he intends to visit a great many producers to choose the vegetables and meat supplies that he will be able to prepare and serve with confidence.

His kitchen is due to undergo a major refurbishment in January, so Steve is determined to have his new culinary experience ready for the public shortly after.

“I believe you should let the food and its flavours speak for itself,” added Steve. “And our dishes will be speaking volumes in the New Year.”

Inglewood General Manager Fiona Creed said: “I have worked with Steve in the past and he is a very creative and accomplished chef. He has some exciting plans for the Inglewood restaurant and we are looking forward to a very tasty New Year.”
